Abadeze is a Guyanese Creole word for ‘we’ or ‘us’. For me, it has become a signifier (the ‘physical’ form) of plurality. The mental concept or idea, the signified, is not fixed. Just like us, Abadeze is an idea that constantly shifts, changes and evolves within the pluriverse. Everything is connected to everything else; hence, plurality. As a mixed-race migrant, my identity, my ontology- the ways in which I make meaning- are forever plural. This is my living portfolio. Life is a collection of complex assemblages interacting with one another through space and time; this is my attempt to navigate it.
